22 Jennifer Aniston Black Dresses From The Red Carpet That Prove She Knows What She’s Doing By Sticking To The Same Hue

Jennifer Aniston has been talked about a lot this award season, from not receiving an Oscar nomination for her role in Cake to her apparently boring red carpet outfit choices. Well, haters, I'm adding to that chatter by compiling a list of all of Aniston's black dress from the red carpet that prove she knows what she's doing by sticking to black.

They’ve been broke up for over ten years, but it looks like Aniston has been matching her men in black since day one.

2000 People's Choice Awards

This is perfection. After winning a People’s Choice Award for Friends in 200, a few of the beloved cast members posed for photos — and you’ll see that Aniston isn’t the only one who loves black.

2001 People's Choice Awards

The dress Aniston chose to wear to the 2001 People’s Choice Awards is so simple, but the low neckline adds the perfect amount of sauciness. And, if you look closely, you’ll see that her fingernails are black as well. Also, that cross necklace…

2001 'Spy Game' Premiere

Because all black is OK if a leather skirt is involved. And if your (then) husband wears the same thing.

2002 Golden Globe Awards

Here, Aniston shows that even a classic, all-black, two piece red carpet look can be daring. At the 2002 Golden Globe awards, Aniston turned heads while still wearing her classic black blazer — but without anything underneath it. She paired it with a black maxi skirt, because a girl can only show so much skin.

2003 Wimbledon

Personally, I think Aniston was being nice for not wearing a bright color at the opening day of Wimbledon. I’m sure she just didn’t want to distract from the game. But, really, I can’t explain what’s happening to her shirt…

2004 'Along Came Polly' Premiere

Aniston kind of broke her all-LBD rule with the white pinstripe dress she wore to the premiere of Along Came Polly in London. Because “when in London” you wear pinstripes and black leather boots.

Not pictured: Co-star Ben Stiller also in a white pinstripe shirt and black pants.

2005 Jen + Brad

Bold statement coming: Jennifer Aniston made a LOT of fashion mistakes when she was with Brad Pitt. Maybe it’s a good thing they broke up? Here, we have a black ribbed tank top and purple sunglasses on the red carpet. Shudder.

2006 'The Break Up' Premiere

Fitting into the weather down under, Aniston wore a strapless, sequined dress to the premiere of The Break Up in Sydney, Australia. It may not be as comfortable as I would like to be watching a movie, but she rocks the heck out of all that sparkle.

2006 Academy Awards

Not only did she wow fans with her Oscar acceptance speech for Friends, but Aniston also made headlines for wearing a silver necklace (instead of gold) with her long, sheer dress to the ceremony. I love the flow and, honestly, I think any other color would have been too much.

2009 'He's Just Not That Into You' Premiere

I’ve never really understood why celebrities are expected to dress up for movie premieres. They’re literally about to watch a movie. If it were me, I would be in sweats with Swedish Fish hidden in my oversized purse. The ever-brilliant Aniston, however, found a genius way to balance comfort and red carpet-ready wear — in her signature black, of course. This black, silky pantsuit is perfection.

2011 'Horrible Bosses' Premiere

At the summer premiere of Horrible Bosses, Aniston dressed down in a short LBD — though the sequins gave it that red carpet boost of glamour.

2011 'Just Go With It' Premiere in Berlin

Holy crap she’s perfect. Out of all my options, (which, trust me, extend beyond this list) this dress Jen wore to another Just Go With It premiere in Germany, is one of the top. Between the ruffles, sheer back, and windswept hair, the entire look is amazing.

2011 'Just Go With It' Premiere in Germany

Aniston, again, is feeding my logic for wearing comfortable clothes to movie premieres. Also, she’s proving that black is classic internationally. To the premier in Germany, Aniston wore a classic, stretchy LBD with black tights, black shoes and a long, gold necklace.

2013 'We Are The Millers' Premiere

In the movie, Aniston played a stripper-turned-mother. This black, sensual dress kind of fits the role perfectly. It’s classically black, but is spruced up a bit with the fit and the cut-out.

2013 People's Choice Awards

Once again, Aniston proves that leather can be classy. Very, very classy.

2014 'Cake' Premiere

Never mind that Aniston is wearing black again: Seeing made-up Aniston next to her barefaced counterpart is blowing my mind. Ugh, she's so gorgeous.

2014 Golden Globes

Yes, it is black, but we all know Aniston turned heads at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in that dress. The slit was high and the whole architecture was spot on. Besides gold jewelry, the whole look was black and natural and sexy.

2014 Governor's Awards

For those who don’t know, the Governor's Awards are a pre-Oscar event that typically happen a day before the actual ceremony. For the event last year, Aniston and Justin Theroux matched in black (aww!). Both are wearing Dior, but Aniston’s is couture. This was noted as just another black dress, but she also got a little praise for adding a pop of tan in there.

2014 'Cake' Screening

Aniston got ultra-comfy for her latest movie premier of Cake in New York City. The Oscar-snubbed actress wore her thick-rimmed black glasses to the premier and an oversized blazer over a black and white printed shirt. Not seen here: She’s also wearing black pants. And it’s not too much, because this is so chic.

2015 'Horrible Bosses' 2 Premiere

At the Horrible Bosses 2 premiere in London, Aniston stepped up her LBD game by adding a pop of color. The best part? Her shoes are Christian Louboutin. Red and black everything.

2015 Golden Globe Awards

This is the dress that got the "she only ever wears black" conversation started this award season. Aniston is wearing Yves St. Laurent with such confidence (look at those hands on her hips!), but the dress is more than just black. It is a form-fitting empire waist with a daring slit. Furthermore, the sequins at the top of the halter neck adds something extra to the dress. Besides, can't we just let our celebrities live?!
