Emilia Clarke's Dress Is Fabulously In Character

I go through stages of wanting to be a different kind of person at different times. It's probably one of those human things that we just don't talk about, but that in reality most of us experience. When it comes to Daenerys Targaryen, I often find myself reflecting on what a life her's would be. There are days when I simply love her attitude. I mean, in theory she is quite the humanitarian — except for the whole going power hungry thing and getting a bit weird and possibly sociopathic. She's feminine and strong. Sexy and tough. She's kind of the ultimate #GIRLBOSS, actually. And in the real world, actress Emilia Clarke is very much the same. Whether she's on Broadway, fighting for Westeros or embodying Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys, she's pretty much bad ass — a fact one can so clearly see at tonight's Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Wearing Donna Karan, Emilia couldn't actually be more perfect. The asymmetrical cross cut at the chest is elegant, undoubtedly. But it's the gown's cape that is pure and unadulterated magic. 2014 saw a resurgence of this distinctly vintage look, and if Emilia's ensemble is anything to go by, this might be a trend to stay a little while longer. And why wouldn't it be? Fun yet graceful; quirky yet mysterious. It's kind of the whole package. Emilia accessorized with Jimmy Choo's and a deep red lip. So can we officially make her our new style icon? Seriously, someone needs to photograph Emilia in her Donna Karan and Gwendoline Christie in Gilles Couture, frame the picture in an antiqued wooden frame, mount it on the wall, and call it a day. I need nothing else. Well, other than for Game of Thrones to take home the prize for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, that is.
