An 'X-Men' TV Series Is Underway

It seems FOX is looking to transform — or should I say mutate? — its fall lineup in the coming seasons. According to EW, the network is in talks to develop an X-Men TV series, though no specific details or terms have been made official. Obviously, this Marvel franchise would be a huge win for FOX, yet again, who managed to bag the DC Comics-centric series Gotham only last fall, which has already proven to be quite the draw. And while no creative aspects have been released, I have feeling we won't be seeing any of our main mutants in their typical adult form. No, my guess would be that, like Gotham, X-Men would look toward some of the less central characters for inspiration — ones whose backstories have yet to be fully unraveled.

Granted, I suppose they could always go the route of highlighting a young Wolverine, who has yet to encounter his blade-weilding abilities, but to be quite honest, I'd find that very disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I love Hugh Jackman and everything he's brought to the Wolverine role. But given the insane amount of films already centered around him and his fellow male cohorts (Magneto, Professor X), I'd say it's high time the lady mutants got their time to shine, and this small screen adaptation would be the perfect way to go about it. Which is why I've taken the liberty of listing all the X-(wo)Men I hope to see if this series really does come to pass, as well as the female stars who should play them.

As many of you probably know, the Game of Thrones star was recently cast to play this very character in X-Men: Apocalypse, which is set to come out in May 2016. Well, depending upon how long it takes for these discussions to get aired out, it could be possible for the TV series to debut later that same year. And if Turner's popularity as the telepathic doc is high enough, fans may be craving for the character to have her own show, thus allowing us to learn more about what I'm sure makes up a rather compelling backstory. (Just so long as it doesn't interfere with the actress's GoT schedule, of course.)

Now, given the actress's recent skyrocket to fame, this is more than likely not going to happen, but come on — how awesome would this be? (You don't need to answer. I know it would be amazing.) I'd love nothing more than to see this girl manipulate the weather for all kinds of badassery. Let's make this happen please!

Tatiana Maslany as Raven/Mystique

I realize she already has quite a bit on her plate what with playing seven thousand characters on Orphan Black and everything, but let's face it — Maslany was born for this role. The girl is basically an acting chameleon all on her own, so transforming into a million different identities would be a piece of cake for her. Don't get me wrong, I love Jennifer Lawrence as this character as well. But I'd love to see how their unique approaches to the role would vary. It could even allow for a pretty interesting crossover between the films and series.

Mae Whitman as Rogue

With Parenthood only one episode away from being done entirely, the actress is bound to have a bit more time on her hands. Now would be the perfect time for another network to rope her into another series. And given all of Amber's sass and spunk, I know Whitman would make for the perfect Rogue. I mean, her tears steal away our life force on a weekly basis on Parenthood. So just imagine what she'd be able to do with actual powers.
