How to Drink Coffee Like a World Traveler

By now, you've probably all cottoned onto the fact that there are few things I love more than a good cup of coffee. One of those things, though, is traveling — which is why BuzzFeed Blue's latest video, "Coffee Around the World," is currently my new favorite thing. It takes us on a global tour of fabulous-sounding coffee drinks in addition to teaching us how to make them— and you guys? I need to make them. All of them. Now. Right this very minute. Even the iced ones, in spite of the fact that Winter Storm Juno is still dumping snow on my head as we speak (well, not literally on my head — it's not snowing in my apartment, just outside of it). One of the best parts about traveling is the food and drink situation, so this? It's pretty much the best thing ever. Just sayin'.

This isn't the first time we've looked at different ways to make the perfect cup of joe from all over the world — remember that fabulous infographic featuring a whopping 38 styles of java to try? — but what's nice about this handy little video is that it walks you through exactly what you need to do in order to make each one. None of them are terribly complicated, but the order in which you toss things into your glass or mug matters; there are also a few techniques you'll need to learn (although I promise they're simple enough for pretty much anyone to be able to pick up).

Check out my five favorites below; scroll down to watch the whole video for four more. Bottoms up!

1. Portugal: Mazagran

You'll need: Cold coffee, ice cubes, lemons, and sugar.

To make it: Squeeze the lemons until you have about half a cup of juice. Add sugar to taste into one cup of cold coffee; then pour in the lemon juice and give it a good stir. Pour it into a glass over ice and garnish with a slice of lemon if you want to get fancy about it.

2. Germany: Eiskaffee

You'll need: Cold coffee, ice cream, whipped cream, and some shaved chocolate.

To make it: This one is essentially a coffee float. Spoon two scoops of ice cream (vanilla works best, but you could always change it up if you feel like it) into a tall glass; then pour one cup of cold coffee over it. Top it off with some whipped cream and sprinkle a few chocolate shavings over it all. Yum? Yum.

3. Greece: Frappe

You'll need: Instant coffee, sugar, water, ice cubes, and a hand mixer.

To make it: Combine one teaspoon each of instant coffee and sugar in a glass. Add a splash of water — just enough to turn everything into liquid — and then hit the whole thing with your hand mixer until the glass is half full of glorious, glorious foam. Throw in some ice cubes, then fill the rest of the glass with cold water.

4. Hong Kong: Yuanyang

You'll need: Coffee, black tea, condensed milk, and ice cubes.

To make it: Spoon three tablespoons of condensed milk into a glass. Then add one part coffee, stir the glass vigorously, add one part black tea, and top the whole thing off with some ice.

5. Austria: Kaisermelange

You'll need: Coffee, honey, and eggs (yes, eggs).

To make it: Separate out one egg yolk into a mug or heat-proof coffee glass (save the whites for an omelette or something). Squeeze in two tablespoons of honey and whisk the concoction; then slowly whisk in your coffee.
