The Blink-182 Feud, Told In Their Own Lyrics

by Rachel Semigran

Somewhere, in the recesses of a storage container under my bed, the relics of my high school self are holding each other tight. The rubber bracelets, studded belts, and concert ticket stubs lay silent, for Blink-182 may no longer be the Blink-182 my 16-year-old self once loved. On Monday, rumors spread like white out pen on a backpack that Tom DeLonge was leaving Blink-182 and would be replaced by Alkaline Trio (oh, kiss me once in the snow, I swear it never gets old) frontman Matt Skiba for an upcoming festival. But THEN DeLonge announced that he wasn't planning on leaving the band. AND THEN Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus, while still draped in all things Dickies and Vans, were like, "Uhhhh, yeah bro, you're totally out!"

The DRAMA! My bleeding pop-punk heart can't take it. I could handle the whole Brand New vs. Taking Back Sunday lyric fiasco, that whole thing was as subtle as the brick on the small of my back. Heck, I even dealt with Gabe Saporta leaving Midtown and totally selling out for MTV. But THIS. THIS. Blink-182 members turned against EACH OTHER? No. No. I cannot.

Hoppus and Barker lambasted DeLonge in an interview with Rolling Stone, calling the guitarist, "disrespectful and ungrateful". DeLonge responded to Entertainment Weekly by claiming, "I never quit the band. Actually, I was on the phone discussing a possible Blink-182 event in New York City when I heard the 'news.'" Yikes. There's a lot of back and forth between the two camps, both claiming if and when DeLonge left the band. To help us all figure it out, let's take a look at the whole thing, in their own lyrics.
