Kids Eat The Darndest Things!

Whooooooo lives in a pineapple in your chest cavity? SPONGE! BOB! SQUARE! PANTS! Apologies for getting that relic of the early millennium stuck in your head forever but let me explain myself: a recent X-Ray of a 16-month-old boy revealed SpongeBob SquarePants in his chest cavity. That's right: Before hitting the age of two, this little boy in Saudi Arabia managed to accomplish the admittedly impressive (although not advised) feat of swallowing an entire SpongeBob Most of us reach adulthood without being able to do that! Jealz.

To explain some of the madness, the SpongeBob is a tiny pendant (because SpongeBob necklaces will never not be all the rage), so it was probably pretty easy for a toddler to get his hands on. What is more remarkable, though, is how clearly it shows up on the X-Ray. "I thought it is just a pin," said Dr. Gofrahn Ageely, a radiology resident at the hospital, in a statement to ABC News. "But when I opened the frontal view I was shocked to see SpongeBob looking at me with a big smile. Its angle and rotation are just perfect."

Luckily, SpongeBob was easily and safely removed with the help of a scope, at which point he most likely greeted the light of day something like this:

I cannot help but note this event's timely proximity to the terrifying-looking 3D live-action SpongeBob Movie (which I have been ignoring for the sake of my own sanity and the sanctity of my childhood). This kid might never remember a world where SpongeBob made sense and also wasn't buried in his chest. Woe is Gen Z!
