Alexander Wang Took Over Bergdorf Goodman

by May Sofi

Fashion design mastermind Alexander Wang just keeps on outdoing himself. The multi-talented designer achieved superstardom at a very young age, launching his first solo collection at just 23 years old. Since then, Wang has been sought out by a myriad of elite brands (Balenciaga, anyone?) and has collaborated with H&M and even headphone company Beats By Dre. In his latest super cool project, Alexander Wang took over Bergdorf Goodman's 5th Avenue store in NYC to design a sneaker-themed window display.

According to WWD, the luxury retailer gave the young designer complete creative freedom to construct a pop-up installation in two of the flagship store's windows. Wang has chosen to highlight his Spring 2015 collection, which was inspired by five iconic sneakers in fashion, by building on this theme in two different kinds of arrangements. One window features an all-white tennis vibe, including matching Alexander Wang merch items like tennis rackets, shoe boxes, and trophies, while the other windows embodies an all-black, grungry basketball theme. This ingenious collaboration, which was totally Bergdorf's idea, was an attempt to bridge the gap between luxury and contemporary fashion, thus providing their customers with a holistic shopping experience.

The window displays will be officially open on January 29th. To kickoff the project, Bergdorf's will also project Wang's logo on its facade in huge bright lights. Well done, on both parts.
