Rosie Showed Us How Not To Wear A Slip Dress

by Alexa Tucker

I am usually a huge fan of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's fashion choices. Whether she's on a red carpet or strutting through an airport like the off-duty model she is, I almost always admire her style. Sadly, though, Rosie suffered a rare style mishap at the launch of her fragrance for Marks & Spencer tonight in London by showing us exactly how not to wear the slip dress trend.

The ultra-feminine trend is both romantic and sexy, but there's a fine line to balance between looking like you're wearing a chic dress or an actual nightgown. Disappointingly, Rosie's definitely fell on the nightie side. Don't get me wrong, her dress would be a classic and luxe addition to any sleepwear wardrobe, but for a party celebrating her latest venture, Rosie for Autograph Eau De Parfum? Maybe not.

Now that I think about it, perhaps she is actually wearing a nightdress. After all, the perfume is an addition to her lingerie line for the British retailer, and although I couldn't find this exact nightgown, there are some that look very similar. This Instagram user seems to think it was part of her line, too. So maybe she was purposefully going for the just-rolled-out-of-bed look here.

If you're going to work a slip dress anytime soon (and don't let this discourage you from trying it!), keep in mind that you should balance out the sexiness. Paired with a tough moto jacket or a sophisticated wool coat, the lingerie-inspired look is both sweet and on-trend.
