What Amanda Bynes' Mom Said About the Actress

by Alanna Bennett

Looks like it's a banner day for that niche audience waiting for the moms of controversial celebrities to speak their piece: Miley Cyrus' mom let it be known that she is always right by her daughter's side through a sneak peak at the Miley documentary airing on MTV Wednesday, and Amanda Bynes' mom is speaking out about her daughter, too. So what does Bynes' allegedly long-suffering mother have to say? "I would really like everyone out there to know that almost 99 percent of the things written about my daughter in various media outlets are false or misleading," Lynn Bynes said in a statement to People. "Unless it's a statement issued by our family attorney, Tamar Arminak, please take everything you read about Amanda with a grain of salt."

That part seems about standard: It could very well be that the bulk of what we read about Amanda's condition is basically RPF fan fiction created by the media looking to keep a story going; she could also legitimately be in crisis. We really don't know, and if Lynn Bynes gets her way it's gonna be a while until we find out.

"Please know that neither myself or other family members have ever released any information regarding her treatment or diagnosis. We truly believe in keeping our daughter's situation private for now," said Bynes, who was recently put in legal control over her daughter. So, people of the public, you're probably going to have to wait a while to be clued in on the facts surrounding Amanda Bynes' mental condition. And really, if something is actually wrong with her, that might be for the best.
