People Tuned In to Hate 'Super Fun Night'

by Kate Ward

It might be easy to assume Rebel Wilson did not have a super fun night following scathing reviews from critics about her new ABC series, Super Fun Night. But here's guessing the Bridesmaids actress is having a super fun morning. Because Super Fun Night might not be a critical success, but it seems to be poised to become a commercial success: The new sitcom, also starring Lauren Ash and Liza Lapira, attracted 8.2 million viewers. Not bad for a freshman series starring a supporting player from Pitch Perfect.

Of course, Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids fans weren't solely responsible for the impressive numbers — Super Fun Night boasted the best possible lead-in with Modern Family, which maintained its hit status with 10.9 million viewers. (So for those of you who think the comedy didn't deserve the Emmy, it seems there are millions who might disagree.) But will that audience stick around for next week's Super Fun Night? Lovers of the wholesome comedy Modern Family delivers might not have been as impressed with Wilson's raunchy brand of comedy, but devotees could attempt to rally to keep the new sitcom's numbers super.

Either way, safe to say Wilson's feeling super good about avoiding a super disaster.
