This Matchstick Valentine DIY Is Too Cute

by Hometalk

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it's time to brainstorm the best way to share some warm and fuzzies with the people you love. Instead of going the standard cards, candies, and flowers route, try something different and fun, with this Matchstick Valentine DIY by Lindsay at Frenchie, to add a little fire to your celebrations!

All you need for this quick food craft is a bag of pretzel rods, a bag of smaller pretzel sticks, and some red Candy Melts. (You could use chocolate instead, but for that red matchstick tip color, Candy Melts work best.)

1. First, heat the Candy Melts. Place your melts in a microwave safe bowl. Heat the Candy Melts in 30 second intervals, stirring between each turn, to make sure you don’t overcook them. Once they’re mostly melted and easily stirred, you’re ready for the dipping step.

2. Create a drying area by putting down a long sheet of wax paper. Now you can start dipping!

3. Dip your pretzels just enough to cover the tip, and shake off excess melt, so that you get smooth, rounded matches when they dry. Continue dipping until all of your pretzels are matchstick-ified.

4. For the last step, create a matchbox out of folded paper for the smaller matches, and group the bigger matches into pairs. Tie them together with baker’s twine, and attach a cute Valentine’s themed note. If you like the steamy message below, get the free printable here!
