'Glee' "Transitioning" Spoilers In Promo Photos Reveal Old Favorites Returning To The Fold

This Friday Glee pays tribute to musical legend Burt Bacharach, the six-time Grammy winning and three-time Oscar winning songwriter behind 73 Top-40 hits throughout the 1950s-'80s, mostly for Whitney Houston's cousin Dionne Warwick. But while "What The World Needs Now" is sure to be a sweet episode full of classic old tunes, it's next week's Glee episode, titled "Transitioning," that has me even more intrigued.

The official images Fox released for "Transitioning" show that Episode 7 will be chock-full of familiar faces that pop up in unexpected ways. Who's making a surprise return? Who's going through a major life change? I've attached selections from the episode's official summary to each image to make sense of what we're seeing. Scroll through to get all the scoop on what's ahead!

Will Gets Nostalgic

“While Will is euphoric over his new job coaching Vocal Adrenaline and all the perks that come with it, he still confesses to missing the camaraderie of New Directions.”

During last week’s Invitationals competition, Will confessed to former student/current competition Rachel that he missed coaching kids he actually liked. (Those Vocal Adrenaline kids do seem pretty insufferable, especially that Clint character.) Here, the VA coach looks to be reminiscing while roaming the halls of McKinley.

Will Moderates A Discussion Between Rachel & Kurt

Too bad things don’t seem to be as idyllic within the New Directions as Mr. Schue remembers them to be. I don’t know what ND’s co-directors are discussing here, but neither of them seem to be very happy about it.

Rachel & Blaine Get Egged

“After learning of a mean-spirited prank his students pulled on rival coaches Rachel and Blaine, he tries to teach his kids about tolerance by making it his weekly lesson plan.”

Remember back in the Season 1 episode “Funk” when Rachel was egged in the McKinley parking lot by Jesse St. James and his Vocal Adrenaline cohorts? Looks like Carmel High’s show choir is up to its old tricks, this time putting Warbler coach Blaine in their crosshairs as well.

Emma Pillsbury Lives!

Hey, look! Jayma Mays (who plays OCD guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury) hasn’t been on Glee nearly as much since she left to star in the CBS sitcom The Millers. But since that show was unexpectedly axed, it seems like she finally has time to put in an appearance before Glee closes up shop for good. Looks like she and Will get to witness Rachel and Blaine’s egging firsthand.

Mr. Schue Teaches A Valuable Lesson

“But not everyone is willing to accept Will’s softer, all-inclusive style of coaching, forcing him to take a hard look at the choices he’s made in order to figure out his next move.”

Oh, Mr. Schue. Back to your old word-on-a-whiteboard lesson-of-the-week tricks. Here he is trying to give a lecture to Clint & Co. about the importance of tolerance? Any bets on how well that goes over?

Another Member Of ND 2.0 Resurfaces

Looks like Mr. Schue brings in a little extra help for his lesson in tolerance… and it’s old glee clubber Unique! She’s the only member of New Directions 2.0 to make an appearance in the final season, after Kitty. (Still no word on Marley, Jake, or Ryder other than that Sue forced them to transfer after she disbanded the club.)

Rachel Gets Ready To Say Goodbye

“Rachel must come to terms with the fact that her family home has finally been sold and all her memories appear to be going away with it.”

Rachel was informed by her dad, Leroy, in the season premiere that her childhood home was being sold (immediately after being informed that her dads were getting a divorce). In a remarkable show of continuity, that plot thread is being followed up on in next week’s episode. Here Rachel sits alone in her boxed-up bedroom while her friends look on in the background.

Sam Lends A Helping Hand

“While [Rachel] is despondent over the turn of events, Sam recruits the other gleeks to stage an intervention of sorts in order to help her get past the challenging milestone with a fun, song-filled sendoff.”

Looks like Samchel is here to stay! Out of everyone, Sam is the one who swoops in to help Rachel out of her funk. And what does his “fun, song-filled sendoff” look like?

Introducing The Wheel Of Musical Fortune

Why, a giant colorful spinning wheel, of course! It appears as though the Wheel Of Musical Fortune can be spun to create unexpected duet pairings.

Mercedes Just Can't Stay Away From McKinley

They say you can take the girl out of high school, but you can’t take high school out of the girl. Well, in Mercedes’ case, you can’t take the girl out of high school, either. Here she is, helping Rachel and Kurt with the New Directions… AGAIN. It’s interesting to note, though, that she appears to be pointing at someone sitting in front of her, and — if you compare this picture to the one before — the wheel appears to have stopped on Roderick’s name. Are we about to get a Mercedes/Roderick duet? #slay
