Tom Hiddleston Looks Better Than Ever

The upcoming thriller High Rise looks almost unbelievably excellent, and not just because Tom Hiddleston is in it. But, Tom Hiddleston does look good in this new High Rise still, all while looking slightly conflicted and kind of like Don Draper with this suit and elevator backdrop. (Then again, I may just be thinking this because I know the plot of the movie.)

High Rise is based on a book of the same name by Crash writer J.G. Ballard. It's set in '70s London in an exclusive community called High-Rise. Hiddleston plays Robert Laing, a doctor seeking a glamorous lifestyle. But, like the glamour of Mad Men, material success does not result in happiness, and Laing slowly learns of the hidden darkness in his new community. To continue the parallel, Elisabeth Moss also stars. As if all this wasn't enough, Jeremy Irons plays the architect of the building and Sienna Miller is the love interest. Ben Wheatley, who famously directed Kill List, helms this thriller.

Here's a dramatic excerpt from the official synopsis:

The cracks in this apparently flawless society grow rapidly, and Laing is shocked at the depravity he sees. Life in the high-rise quickly descends into madness and violence, and Laing finds himself amongst the marauding hordes of bloodthirsty tenants who take over the building, floor by floor.

Could this be Hiddleston's Don Draper role? He has a more edgy handsomeness than the all-American good looks of Jon Hamm, but maybe that fits in with the London setting. I also like the idea of a thriller confined to the seeming infiniteness of a high-rise apartment. And it seems that the villain in this film, as in Mad Men, is capitalism, which could result in a pretty interesting project. Color me intrigued!

(And oh boy, can he wear a suit.)
