Benedict Cumberbatch's Oscars Role Got Even Better

by Nicole Pomarico

Stop what you're doing, because this is huge: Benedict Cumberbatch is going to be presenting at the Oscars. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cumberbatch is part of a newly released list of Academy Awards presenters, which also includes Oprah Winfrey, Marion Cotillard, Reese Witherspoon, and Meryl Streep amongst celebrities who will participate in the major event — and, even better, more presenters are still yet to be announced.

So, if you weren't already excited about the Oscars — and you totally should have been, since Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the whole thing — this should definitely up the ante for you. I mean, not only is Cumberbatch nominated for his role in The Imitation Game and for sure attending the event anyway, but he'll have a ton of screentime due to hosting as well! It could be his year, guys!

Also among the presenters? A lot of awesome people who are going to make an occasionally boring, long award show that much more enjoyable. In fact, the show made a point to make sure all Best Actress and Best Actor winners from 2014 would come back to present, so that means we'll be seeing Lupita Nyong'o and Matthew McConaughey take the stage again. (And obviously, you know what this means: If Cumberbatch wins, that basically secures him another year at the Oscars, and that is a beautiful thing.)

The 2015 Oscars air Sunday, February 22 on ABC.
