Robyn Talked Body Acceptance on Access Hollywood

A very pregnant (and very beautiful) Robyn Lawley stopped by Access Hollywood today to chat about her shoot for this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, but the Australian model talked about a lot more than beachwear during her appearance. Lawley brought up a seriously good point about how sizeist the modeling industry can be, saying "Karlie Kloss is my height and I would have to be Karlie Kloss' size to actually fashion model, which I think is a size... zero to four." Lawley is one of the most stunning women on the planet, so to be barred from a certain area of modeling because of her size seems a little ridiculous. But then again, that, we knew.

Although she's certainly not the first to bring up weight issues within the modeling industry, I'm thrilled that as Sports Illustrated 's first "plus size" girl, she has a platform to discuss exactly why it's a problem that models often have to be at one extreme on the size spectrum or the other.

"I understand the outrage because I wish more girls could model at their regular size, a eight, a ten or a 16," she said. "I don't understand why it is so one-size only."

Although Robyn is considered a plus-size model, she's not a plus-size woman. But it seems that the industry (especially when it comes to fashion modeling, which favors girls like Kloss, Cara Delevingne, and Kendall Jenner,) likes to put that label on anyone who is not decidedly "skinny." And not only is it unfair to girls who want to model but are too "in between" — it can be damaging to everyone.

"I don't want girls to look at me and be like, 'oh, she's plus size. What does that make me?,'" said Lawley.

Her advice? "Embrace your natural size. Once you become content and happy with who you are, it just naturally all falls into place, and you don't have to fight it anymore. And some of us are naturally meant to be a size 14, or a 12, or a zero. It doesn't matter."

The model is literally about to pop (she's just over nine months pregnant now), but let's hope she continues spreading her message about size inclusion and body positivity during her appearances up until then.

Side note: Lawley told Access Hollywood that she didn't know whether her baby was a boy or a girl, but if she has a daughter, she's going to be so lucky to have a mom as encouraging and empowering as Robyn.
