This Urban Outfitters Mistake May Be The Worst Yet

Urban Outfitters is like that really rebellious kid you knew in high school that just continued, time after time, to make totally unnecessary and completely stupid decisions. You love them, you really do. They have so much potential/such cute sale items. So why, oh why do they keep making the same mistakes over and over again? Do they ever learn? Apparently, for Urban Outfitters, the answer to the question is a resounding, big fat NO. Now, in maybe the biggest flub yet for the company, Urban Outfitters is selling a tapestry that resembles Nazi concentration camp uniforms. Not. Good.

The Anti-Defamation League, an anti-Semitism group, is asking the retailer to immediately stop selling the product, which is striped and features a pink triangle. The group says that the specific pattern on the tapestry resembles concentration camp uniforms that gay male prisoners in particular were forced to wear. The group said in a statement that despite whether the pattern was intentional or not (it's hard to image that it would be), it is "deeply offensive."

According to Business Insider, the item can not currently be found on the site, and this may indicate that it has already been removed entirely.

Again and again, Urban Outfitters outdoes themselves. And never, ever in a good way. You'd think at this point that the brand would have a team dedicated to sifting through all of the product and pointing out any item with even the slightest potential of being offensive, right? You know how stores have loss prevention experts? Isn't there a group of "how not to make yourselves look like a bunch of highly insensitive ass holes" experts that the retailer could hire? Just an idea.
