John Legend Opens Up About Kanye & Beck

If you thought we were done talking about the Grammys, Kanye West, and Beck, well, you are so wrong. Now, John Legend is commenting on Kanye West and his stunt at the Grammys when Beck won Album of the Year. In an interview with Us Weekly, Legend found Kanye pulling a "Kanye" harmless and thinks everyone needs to calm down, if they are upset about it. He said,

I thought it was funny. I looked at it as just a funny thing that people were going to talk about. It didn't hurt anybody. Anybody who's upset just needs to relax. It was funny. Beck won his award fair and square. Beck is super talented and I have several of his albums and I've listened to him for a long time. I think people were surprised that he won but that doesn't mean he's not deserving, that just means people thought other people were going to win too.

Legend's feelings about the most-talked about moment from the show don't stop there. He also took to Twitter to explain his thoughts on Beck winning, all while hoping to clarify some opinions on that infamous selfie Kim Kardashian posted with Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen. Legend tweeted:

So, it seems that Legend does "respect" Beck and finds him to be a great artist, but was genuinely surprised that he took home the award. With that said, and what I think some people need to understand is that being surprised doesn't mean someone is being disrespectful or doesn't value the artist for his/her work.

Also, let's talk about this selfie posted by Kardashian, with the caption, "This is the Beck won that award face?!?!?!"

For those who don't know, Legend clarifies that the selfie was taken before Beck won Album of the Year. So, yeah, he and Teigen weren't dissing Beck. However, it seems that Kardashian might have been, or at the very least, was surprised to see Beck score the major win.

Overall, and even if some don't agree with West running up on stage, Legend is choosing to stay classy, while West was not. I'm not saying people can't have their own opinions or can't speak their mind, but there's a way to do it without being rude.
