Fashion Just Got Nutty On Instagram

by Hayli Goode

It's NYFW and between Kanye West's stylish antics, constant backstage social media updates, and endless street style slideshows, it's hard to keep up. But there's only one Instagram account you really need to follow, this week and every week. It's called fashionisnuts and it takes its name extremely literally by featuring nuts painted to look like fashion moguls, providing comedic relief in this ultra-busy time.

The account showcases the tongue-in-cheek work of illustrator Donald Robertson, who transforms walnuts into the likenesses of fashion greats such as Coco Chanel and Anna Wintour. "Whether it’s Edie Campbell dressed in nothing but body paint and a headdress, or Iris Apfel sitting front row wearing her signature glasses and dressed in red fur, fashion is and has always been wondrously mad," writes Drue Robertson of the project.

Aside from his extremely impressive Instagram account, Robertson has produced a 40-page magazine featuring the elitist of the elite. You can also buy posters, playing cards or post cards featuring pictures of your favorite walnut-turned-fashionista. Additionally, each of his posts and a little pun to go with each character, because the account name apparently wasn't punny enough.

Producer Karl Cyprien told Refinery29, “In a world ruled by focus groups and 10-person creative committees, it gives me enormous pleasure to see an insane idea wheat-pasted all over New York City."

Take a look at some of Roberston's punny nuts, shall we?

1. Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel

2. Riccardo Tisci is "NUTorious"

3. Pat McGrath

4. Ms. Anna Wintour, the "Alpha Nut."
