Pharrell Has Some "Happy" Book News

The song that has been stuck in your head for more than a year now is about to become a children's book. Putnam Books for Young Readers is releasing a series of picture books based on Pharrell Williams' "Happy." Clap along! And yes, I realize that now I've gotten it stuck in your head again.

The first of Pharrell's "Happy" picture books is set to hit shelves on September 22, with at least three more on the docket afterward. According to the Associated Press, Putnam has said that the books will include pictures of children from all across the world "celebrating what it means to be happy."

The Grammy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated "Happy" was originally on the soundtrack to the animated movie Despicable Me 2, though Pharrell also released it on his own album Girl. It's no surprise that Putnam has already ordered a first release of 250,000 copies because the song "Happy" was not only the bestselling song of 2013 but it held its position as the bestselling song in 2014 and, as anyone who has been to a wedding recently knows, it's still a huge track now that we've hit 2015. In fact, it is the U.K.'s most downloaded song ever . (Fun fact: It beat out another Pharrell track, this time with Robin Thicke, with "Blurred Lines.") As for the U.S.? It is only second to Flo Rida and T-Pain's "Low" for spending the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. And really, any other year it totally would have taken home the Oscar for best song, but it was up against juggernaut "Let It Go" from Frozen and nothing was taking that down.

Basically everything Pharrell touches turns to gold (or Grammy), so I'm actually not to worried with this new venture. The artist has 11 Grammy Awards and had not one but three of the biggest songs in the last year or two with "Get Lucky," "Blurred Lines," and "Happy." He's produced massive hits (and yes, seriously great music) on Miley Cyrus, Frank Ocean, Usher, Lupe Fiasco, Mac Miller, Britney Spears, Beyonce, and others. Plus, the concept of showcasing children across the world actually sounds cool and adorable. Singer, songwriter, producer, fashion designer, art curator (seriously), Voice judge, and now children's book author — really, is there anything Pharrell can't do?
