Lady Gaga's New Album Is Coming Along Nicely

by Alex Kritselis

Get ready, Little Monsters: Music producer RedOne has opened up about his recent studio sessions with Lady Gaga, and it sounds like the singer's new album is coming along nicely. RedOne (real name: Nadir Khayat) helped create some of Gaga's most successful singles ("Just Dance," "Poker Face," "LoveGame," "Bad Romance," etc.), but strangely, he only contributed one song to her last solo album, ARTPOP. If you ask me, his influence was sorely missed. For a brief period of time, Gaga and RedOne just didn't seem to be musical "partners in crime" anymore. However, at the end of 2014, Lady Gaga confirmed that she had started working on a new album, and in January, she was back in the studio with RedOne once again — causing many fans to breathe a heavy sigh of relief.

Everyone knows that Gaga and RedOne are capable of making great tunes together, so it was really exciting to see the duo reunited. RedOne told The National in a new interview:

We took a little break from each other and now it feels like we are in a good place, both of us. She did her thing, I did my thing, and it feels like we’re back on track together.

Now, it's not completely clear why Gaga and RedOne felt like they needed to take "a little break from each other," but later in the interview, the 42-year-old producer said something that I think sheds a significant amount of light on the subject:

The new material feels great. And that’s what it is like with me and her — when we both feel great, it’s incredible. A lot of it is to do with trust, no ego, just love for the music. And when it’s fun and respectful, putting the egos aside, it’s magic.

Wow. Two incredibly successful musicians were working closely together for a number of years and, at some point, their egos clashed? (I'm reading between the lines here, of course.) I can't believe that happened!

Juuust kidding. (But I'm glad that they were able to bury the hatchet.) RedOne also said that he's "fully committed" to Gaga's new project, and that the pair won't stop working until they've created "the best album of the decade." Well, that's certainly a lofty goal, but you know what they say: "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars!"

In all seriousness, I'm really looking forward to Gaga's new album. Getting "back to her roots," so to speak, might be just the thing her career needs.
