Who is Drake's "Jungle" About?

by Kaitlin Reilly

It came out of nowhere, but Drake's new album If You're Reading This It's Too Late already has the world abuzz, and it's not just because of those rumors that he only released it to get out of his contract with his label Cash Money. Fans of Drake's work are meticulously analyzing every lyric on the 17-track album, and no lyrics have been disputed more than new tune "Jungle." If you haven't heard it, "Jungle" seems to be about the aftermath of a relationship between Drake and some mystery woman.

Here's a sample of some of the lyrics:

I'm just like a baby, drooling over you/ The things you do/ Feel like we one and the same, our relationship changed/ That or it never existed/ She forgave me for everything, this a forever thing/ Hate that I treated like it's a whatever thing/ Don't know where we stand, I used to hit you bout everything/ Are we still good? Are we still good?

Seems like the woman Drake is discussing in the song has him in a pretty bad way, but who could the person in question be? Drake hasn't opened up yet about who his new songs on the mixtape are about, but fingers are definitely pointing to one celebrity when it comes to this tune... and that's Rihanna.

Rihanna is probably Drake's biggest public romance, and the couple was on-and-off for months before calling it quits for good in 2014. One of the reasons why Drake and Rihanna ended things? According to Complex, Drake simply loved Rihanna "too much" — whatever that means. The rapper always did seem super invested in the relationship, especially compared to RiRi's more laid-back attitude about the whole thing. Drake allegedly engaged in a nightclub fight with Rihanna's ex Chris Brown over the "S&M" singer, while Rihanna's been pretty open about how she'd rather have fun and stay single than get involved in serious relationships.

It seems like these two were never really on the same page, which is what "Jungle" is about — a relationship where each person doesn't quite know where they stand.

If "Jungle" is written from Drake's personal experience with love — which, by the way, he has never confirmed — all signs could point to RiRi.
