See Stephen's Sweet Oscars Congrats For Eddie

by Alyse Whitney

Just when you thought no one could be more excited about Eddie Redmayne's Oscar win for The Theory of Everything , the real Stephen Hawking congratulated Redmayne on his big honor with a heartfelt message. On Monday, the theoretical physicist shared a congrats on Facebook, writing, "Congratulations to Eddie Redmayne for winning an ‪#‎Oscar‬ for playing me in The Theory of Everything Movie. Well done Eddie, I'm very proud of you."

Although Hawking wasn't at the big ceremony on Sunday, he did have fun with Redmayne and his co-star Felicity Jones (who plays Hawking's ex-wife, Jane) at the BAFTAs earlier this month. He shared a fun post after presenting an award, writing, "BAFTA was a blast — I loved being on stage with Felicity Jones and was delighted to give an award to Interstellar. I'm glad that FJ thinks I am the more intelligent 'Stephen' of the two on stage, Hawking and Fry! It was a wonderful evening. Thank you BAFTA, thank you The Theory of Everything and well done to all the award winners of the evening. PS love The LEGO Movie." You hear that, Academy? Hawking thinks The LEGO Movie deserved a nomination and a win, too.

In all of Redmayne's acceptance speeches, he made sure to either thank or dedicate his award to Hawking and his family and/or people living with or who battled ALS. Clearly the admiration and respect goes both ways for the actor and his inspiration.
