These Oscar Gowns Are Made Out Of Rice Krispies

by Marc Cuenco

The 87th annual Academy Awards have come and gone, but a handful of this year's most memorable red carpet fashions will live on thanks to the work of Jessica Siskin, a.k.a. Mister Krisp. This week, the food artist recreated the Oscar gowns of the Best Actress nominees using gooey and delicious Rice Krispies Treats. You read that correctly. Oscar dresses made out of Rice. Krispies. Treats.

YUM.

Receiving Mister Krisp's sugary Treat-meant were the five women this year who vied for the coveted Oscar statue — Best Actress winner Julianne Moore in her custom Chanel, Rosamund Pike in Givenchy, Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford, Marion Cotillard in Dior, and Felicity Jones in Alexander McQueen.

The marshmallow and cereal-based confection has been Siskin's material of choice since launching her company in 2013. With over 19,000 followers and counting, her Instagram account mister_krisp features completely edible sculptures of everything from Thanksgiving dinner plates, to sports jerseys, to the Poop Emoji. She has also immortalized various moments in pop culture, including Kim Kardashian on the cover of Paper magazine's "Break the Internet" issue, David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust album cover, and even the Serial podcast logo. But if there is one thing that Siskin knows more than making edible art, it's fashion. She worked at Elizabeth and James for seven years before starting Mister Krisp. Aside from this year's Oscar gowns, Siskin has also recreated Rihanna's meme-inducing Grammy dress, the Céline ad featuring Joan Didion, and the iconic Chanel purse.

Here are a few of Siskin's edible and fashionable sculptures made from Rice Krispies Treats:
