Pink Hair... at Gucci?! Yep!

Pink hair is everywhere. It's a favorite hair color of Katy Perry's and Nicole Richie is now rocking a pink pixie. Not wanting to be left out in the cold, two Gucci models rocked dip-dyed pink hair. On the runway. In Milan. Yes, Gucci. Even the high-end house has a hankering for punk rock locks. And it turns out polarizing punk princess Courtney Love was the inspo!

"Alessandro [Michele] really loved Courtney Love's look when she was in Hole and had two-toned hair," hairstylist Paul Hanlon told Allure. "And for two of the outfits, he just felt that pink hair would look great." Indeed, the outfits boasted strong, eye-grabbing prints, so the pink hair had to be refined enough so it wouldn't compete with the clothes.

Hanlon revealed that the look was achieved by bleaching the ends of the hair, adding Crazy Color (an inexpensive, Manic Panic-quality dye) and then washing the color so it was super pale and looked faded. Maybe you can try this at home!

While Nicole Richie's pixie is bright pink and bold, the dusty, subtle pink on the Gucci models is softer and could go with any aesthetic, without being too far out there. It's not loud and that's why it's so lovely. Rita Ora rocked this type of pink dye job recently and it looked positively gorge on her.

So why is pink the color du jour of celebs and now runway models? Well, there are some obvious reasons why its popularity continues to rise.

1. Pink Doesn't Clash Too Much

Old fashion norms rejected the idea of pairing pink and red but this whisper soft pink and light tomato red frock look meant for each other. You can wear a dusty pink hair hue and it won't compete too much with your outfit, even if you choose bright colors. In other words, you won't look clownish. Just be careful with other makeup shades; you might want to keep the rest of your face minimal. Or say "Screw it" and do whatever you want. #BreakTheRules.

2. Pink Is Super Feminine

Richie's pixie is super short and sexy, but the pink color adds a feminine element into the mix without feeling princess-y.

3. We Should Always Think Pink

Pink is the color of breast cancer awareness and it's super visible in October, which is BCA month. But going pink in February and, well, in months that aren't October, is a way to keep BCA issues top of mind all year round because that's how it should be.

Let's not forget the ambassador of pink hair—Pink!

Or the oft-pink Perry.

Perry is actually a trendsetter since she owned a blonde-and-pink bob back in 201, long before Gucci tried the look.

The true pink punk goddess is Hayley Williams of Paramore.

Lastly, even a regal dame like Helen Mirren can do a wash of pink with a gown. Love!
