Ariana Grande Just Debuted A New Song

by Alex Kritselis

On Wednesday night, during the kick-off of The Honeymoon Tour in Missouri, opening act Cashmere Cat premiered his new song with Ariana Grande — and it sounds really promising. Now, I know what you're thinking: "New song? But Ariana just put out an album this past summer. She's moving too fast! I NEED 'WHY TRY' TO BE RELEASED AS A SINGLE!"

First of all, calm down. Second of all, it's likely that this new track was recorded for Cashmere Cat's upcoming project, not Grande's. (The singer tweeted that she was "cutting a song" for the 27-year-old Norwegian producer/DJ's album at the end of January.) Don't fret: I don't think she's abandoning the campaign for her last album, My Everything, just yet.

If you're not already familiar with his work, Cashmere Cat — whose real name is Magnus Høiberg — is the extremely talented musician behind Grande's "Be My Baby" (one of my favorite tracks from My Everything). In the past several months, he's also crafted material for big names like Charli XCX ("Break the Rules"), Kid Ink ("Body Language"), and Kanye West ("Wolves"). His star is definitely on the rise.

The title of the pair's new offering hasn't been announced yet, but you'll notice that Grande repeats the phrase "my, my, my" throughout the fan-recorded YouTube clip, so I think that could be it (just a guess). Check out the song below.

To me, the up-tempo track sounds like a perfect blend of Grande's retro-tinged pop and Cashmere Cat's modern hip-hop. No word yet on when we can expect to hear the duo's collaboration in full, but I hope the release date is on the horizon. I'm definitely looking forward to blasting this one at full volume!
