When Is The Apple Watch Out?

by Becca Stanek

Apple has finally announced the date of its big reveal. The company just announced that it plans to hold its Apple Watch event — the moment when they will announce the final pricing and availability of the Apple Watch — on March 9 at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. The event, which is taking place the day after Daylight Savings Time, is cleverly titled, “Spring Forward.”

So, just what will be revealed at this long-anticipated meeting? While we already known that the aluminum smart watch Sport model will go for $349, Apple has yet to announce price details on the regular version of the watch and the high-end version of the watch, The Verge reports. At the event, the company will break its silence on the price details of the watches that are expected to be shipped out in mid-April.

Moreover, the release of the Apple Watch will mark the company’s first landmark product introduction since they first introduced the iPad in 2010. So far, the wearable market has not found great success amongst consumers. According to USA Today, a report found that only 720,000 of Google’s Android Wear sports watches were shipped last year. Ben Wood, chief of research at CSS Insights told USA Today:

The Apple Watch will be instrumental in taking the wearables market to the next level of growth. If successful, it’ll create a rising tide that will lift the whole market.

Rumors are also floating around that the company might be making some other announcements at the event. The Verge suggests that Apple might announce a new Macbook Air design or changes to Beats Music’s streaming services. CBS News reports that whispers are also surfacing about possible updates to Apple TV and a new iPad Pro Design.

Start counting down the days. The wait is almost over.
