Ariana Grande's Feud With This Co-Star Is Over

by Kadeen Griffiths

Perhaps as a direct consequence of the rumors that Ariana Grande is a diva, rumors that range from her being too important to walk to refusing to be photographed from a certain side, the pop star's name has been connected to a lot of feuds over the years. Even back when she was still a Nickelodeon star, Grande was rumored to be feuding with Victoria Justice when she was a star on Victorious and then again with Jeanette McCurdy when she was a star on Sam & Cat. Allegedly, Grande's feud with McCurdy led to the popular Nick show being cancelled. However, on Monday, McCurdy denied she and Grande were ever feuding — at least, not seriously.

During an interview with E! News, McCaurdy described the situation as follows:

"I just feel that, you know Ariana and I were and are extremely close and very like-minded in a lot of different ways and then, sorta as the show dissolved, everybody wanted to find some sort of hidden meaning in our relationship. Some like drama and I think we butted heads at times but in a very sisterly way. She knows me so well and I know her so well that I think it was unfortunate that things kind of got misconstrued."

As nice as that is to hear, it doesn't feel very in line with how the two stars have behaved since the cancellation of their show. Grande has kept in touch with Victorious co-stars Liz Gilles and Matt Bennett — Bennett recently starring in her music video "One Last Time" — but she and McCurdy haven't been reported as speaking or spending any time in public with each other. In addition, McCurdy allegedly dissed Grande on her web series, "What's Next For Sarah?" — with a parody character named "Gloriana," who insensitively prattled on about how well her career was going when Sarah (McCurdy) was at her lowest point.

Of course, that's all just speculation. It's quite possible that the two communicate a lot off-the-scenes — or are simply not be that close, but not in an angry, avoidant sort of way. It's equally possible that McCurdy was just poking fun at Grande the way you would at a sibling or a friend, and that the parody "Gloriana" was sanctioned by Grande herself. We should very well take McCurdy at her word when she says that she and the "Break Free" singer aren't at each other's throats. There are enough celebrity feuds in the world without adding more fabricated ones into the mix.
