Study Shows Stress Sweat Makes You Seem Untrustworthy, But These 5 Aluminum-Free Deodorants Can Fix That

Stress sweat, that particularly odorous excretion that happens when you're flustered and tense, actually lets other people know that you're stressed (yes: our friends can smell that we're stressed). But even worse, a new study shows that stress sweat signals to men that you're less confident, competent, and trustworthy. Eye roll and sigh of despair. Before you sprint over to the deodorant aisle, remember that aluminum, the active ingredient in antiperspirants, may be linked to breast cancer (studies have shown conflicting results, but the issue is still on the table). These aluminum-free deodorants may not prevent you from being stressed, but they'll hide the fact that you are.

Soapwalla

This little baby is a total cult favorite, recommended by everyone from hippies to cynical New Yorkers. It's vegan, has a "frosting-like consistency" (yum), and it works.

Similar ingredients to Soapwalla, slightly more indie/cutesy/unbearably hipster. Choose from lavender or tea tree. You can also snag a travel size for $7!

Weleda

If the thought of a delicate, spray-on deodorant whose active ingredient comes from a rose doesn't leave you feeling ladylike and sweat-free, I don't know what will. Carry around in your purse and re-spritz as needed.

Lavilin

Lavilin deodorant is another cult favorite — just look at all these five-star reviews! It may not give you 72 odor-free hours, as it promises, but hey, 24 hours is pretty good, too. Or even 12. Reviewers say it's stopped their "stinky onion" and "dead fish" odor. Nice.

Dr. Hauschka

If you're a high-end type of girl (or you just like feeling randomly luxurious every morning), Dr. Hauschka's deodorant isn't cheap, but the critics are raving. It freshens you up with zing, witch hazel, and sage.
