Charles DiLaurentis Could Be Hiding In Plain Sight

Just when you think that Pretty Little Liars theories can't possibly get any more complicated, the writers throw yet another mystery into this wheel of mayhem by revealing Mona's secret anagram note. Of course, it didn't take long for expert PLL decoders to uncover a few repeated names amid the jumbled text — one of which was in the form of a new (and completely unknown) member of the DiLaurentis family. But who exactly is this mysterious Charles DiLaurentis? It's a question that has set PLL Tumblr theories aflame and made all of us question everything we thought we knew about this complicated series (yet again). But hey, that's one of the reasons we love this show oh-so much, right? Update: The finale revealed that Charles is in fact Jason DiLaurentis' twin, which opens a whole other can o' worms.

But as is the case with most big PLL reveals, once one question gets answered, another hundred or so pop up in its wake. And since the identity of this Charles DiLaurentis character has yet to be unmasked, our imaginations are running wild at the unlimited possibilities for what this could mean, not just for the Liars in general, but for the entire series. I mean, depending upon who this ends up being, it could change the entire trajectory of the show. And, the way I see it, there are only a handful of people this mystery person could be.

Such as…

Andrew Campbell

There's no denying that Andrew has been acting super shady throughout these last few episodes. Like what the heck was he doing creeping around the outside of Mona's house when the Liars were in there investigating? He knows something — perhaps that he's the secret spawn of Kenneth DiLaurentis? (Something tells me Jessica wasn't the only cheater in this family.) Plus, you have to admit that he does look an awful lot like Ali and Jason. It could also explain why Andrew is falling for Aria instead of Spencer like in the books. It'd just be too weird (and wrong) to have him crushing on his own half sister.

Jason's Twin

Even if there ends up being a brand new face to this name, it would still be a huge twist if Jason, not Ali, was the one who had a twin running around somewhere. In fact, executive producer Marlene King recently told ET that a twin theory will come into play, but it won't be what we expected. "There is a reason why we keep dropping these not-so-subtle clues about the twins, so I would say wait for it," King teased. "You're not going to see Courtney, but you may see double of someone." Kinda makes this whole Jason twin theory seem more and more likely, doesn't it?

Toby

Ezra isn't the only Liar boyfriend that's been acting super weird lately. Toby has grown more and more distant from the gang, which has some out there suspicious that he could potentially be the lost DiLaurentis sibling. I really hope this isn't the case, though, since that would mean Spencer and Toby are somehow related, thereby making their relationship even creepier than Toby and Jenna's was. And that just won't do.

Alison's Uncle

Perhaps this Charles character is a member of the older DiLaurentis generation and is actually Mr. D's twin brother. Now I have no idea how his presence could factor into the entire plot, but I have no doubt it would make for a very compelling twist and further prove why even the adults on this show simply cannot be trusted. And speaking of insane theories, you can hear even more in Bustle's Pretty Little Liars podcast, "Taking This One To The Grave."

Alison's Child

In what could arguably be the most shocking theory yet, Reddit user opp0rtunist believes that Charles is Alison's secret child, whom she's been protecting all of this time. (Is your mind officially blown yet? Because mine totally is.) This is something that perhaps A isn't even aware of yet and would help explain every calculated move Ali has made since the pilot. It's all been for the sake of her child. Or, in an even bigger twist, maybe A is the father. (Double mind blown!)

Am I getting a little too carried away with things? Possibly. But on a show like this, nothing is ever completely out of the question. Hey, maybe Ezra is the father. It's impossible to know for sure! Alison was certainly gone long enough to have a baby. And perhaps that's what Cece is helping her with right now — taking care of her son in Paris. After all, as Tumblr user theplltheorist pointed out, it can't be a coincidence that the airport name on Cece's ticket (or should I say Vivian Darkbloom's ticket?) is Charles De Gaulle. Could this be PLL's way of hinting at who Cece was going to see? There are three airports in Paris to choose from, after all...

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go lie down. All of this theorizing has turned my brain to mush. Thanks, PLL! (Just kidding, never change.)
