'iZombie's David Anders Is Used To Scaring You

by Chrissa Hardy

It takes a special kind of dreamboat to access his terrifying side. However, the more talented the actor, the easier the transformation into his or her character. Boasting a body of work that is all kinds of impressive, David Anders' next role is iZombie' s Blaine, and it's one that he is very well suited for. Because while Anders had roles in all of your favorite shows, the coolest thing about him is his ability to become a monster in the blink of an eye.

On iZombie, Blaine is the one responsible for main character Liv's transformation from human, over-achieving med student into brain-munching, crime-solving zombie. It all starts at a party, as mayhem often does, when a standard soiree turns into a feeding frenzy for a group of zombies. Liv is one of the victims, and becomes part zombie after Blaine turns her. In order to root for our girl Liv, we need a villain to scorn, and it seems like that guy is Blaine.

The series is based on the comic book series of the same name, and follows Liv's struggle to adapt to her new life as a zombie. She had her whole life figured out and now she's dead and constantly searching for her next bowl of brains. But her new job in the coroner's office is actually pretty perfect, because she always has access to her fave food, and each bite of brain gives her access into the memories of the corpses in front of her, allowing her to solve crimes.

Giving off an aura of unsettling mystery is nothing new for Anders. He's been in just about everything and always seems to land the coolest/weirdest/scariest role of the bunch. You probably know him from his stint on Alias back in the day, and since then he's had recurring roles on Heroes, 24, Necessary Roughness, and The Vampire Diaries. He also had a recurring role on Once Upon a Time , just like his iZombie costar Rose McIver. She played Tinker Bell, and he played Dr. Whale/Dr. Victor Frankenstein.

But he's also been in some really freaky movies. Movies that look like this:

And this:

So he knows how to send chills down your spine. And it looks like he knows his way around a zombie stagger. Even though he starts off his stint on iZombie as the bad guy, I hope he can become Liv's benevolent guide into the world of the undead.
