Katy & Nicki Need To Collaborate ASAP

by Alex Kritselis

This is great: On Monday, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj hung out backstage after the rapper's first Pinkprint Tour show in Stockholm, Sweden, and the resulting Instagram pics prove that these two pop stars need to collaborate ASAP. I mean, seriously: What's it going to take to get a Perraj duet in 2015!? I'm losing my patience here! Yes, technically speaking, Perry and Minaj have collaborated in the past, but they've never officially released a song together — and that has to change.

Rumor has it we actually came pretty close to hearing a Perry/Minaj duet back in December 2014. Yup, according to Internet lore, Perry originally sang the hook on The Pinkprint track she co-wrote, "Get On Your Knees" (which may explain why Minaj name drops the "Firework" singer at the end of the second verse). However, before the album was released, Perry's vocals were mysteriously replaced by Ariana Grande's... and no one is quite sure why. Interesting.

Like I said, it's just a rumor, but the simple fact that a Perry/Minaj version of "Get On Your Knees" might exist makes me so excited, my heart feels like it's going to explode. They have to schedule some studio time together soon. They just have to!

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Perry and Minaj secretly recorded something together while they were both in Stockholm. After all, it's the home of pop music genius (and frequent Perry collaborator) Max Martin, and Perry was on a short break from her own tour at the time...

I admit, it's not likely, but it is possible... and that's enough to keep me going. Well, for the time being, anyway. C'mon, Peraj! The world is waiting.
