Gwyneth Says She Is A "Common Woman"

Whether she's consciously uncoupling from someone or trying to define Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow sure has a way with words. In an interview with CNNMoney, Paltrow talks the "common woman" and the phrase's true definition. We all know Paltrow sometimes doesn't make the most sense or sound the most tactful when discussing certain topics, and many people often disagree with her. Controversy appears to follow the Oscar-winning actress, but this time around she actually makes sense in her definition of the "common woman."

Some might say that Paltrow is not like the average woman. And at first glance, no, she's not. She's famous, she won an Academy Award, she was married to Chris Martin, and she's rich. However, if you hear how her most recent interview, you might change your mind. She said,

I'm incredibly close to the common woman in that I'm a woman and I'm a mother. We all are in a physical body with beating hearts, with compassion and love.

All true, right? Paltrow added,

We are all seekers, we all want questions, we all want fulfillment, we want to live our best lives. We want to be healthy and happy and squeeze the most that we can out of life. I think that's all women.

Again, all of that is true for most women. Even though some don't think Paltrow can relate to the average female customer through Goop (especially when products range from a $12 lip conditioner to a $1,960 skirt), the actress disagrees based on the things she talks about above.

This is refreshing from Paltrow, because more often than not, her comments bring on quite a bit of controversial discussion. For example, remember when Paltrow made that comment about it being harder to be a mother as an actress than it is for your average working mother? The actress said, "I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as, of course there are challenges, but it's not like being on set. That opened the floodgates and other actresses ended up commenting on it as well, including Busy Phillips and Angelina Jolie.

Then, there was also that time Paltrow compared the online abuse she receives to those fighting war. Yeah, that didn't go over well with one Green Beret, who called her and other A-list celebs who think like Paltrow "laughable."

So, really, her definition of a "common woman" is pretty tame compared to her other previous statements. I'm not saying you have to agree with Paltrow here, or in any situation, but there's no denying that the actress is finally making sense about something — women are women and have similar goals, no matter their lifestyle, status, personality, finances, outlook on life, and so on. Right?
