Actually, Kendall Didn't Comment On Bruce

On Wednesday, Us Weekly released on story on Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kendall Jenner seemingly commenting on Bruce Jenner being transgender. Later that same day, Kendall took to Twitter denying she ever gave those quotes to Us. It caused quite a bit of confusion, but Us Weekly's story remained on their site. Well, on Thursday, the entertainment publication retracted their story about Kendall and Bruce apologizing to both for running the story.

For context, the original quote supposedly given by Kendall reads as follows,

I love my dad. He’s always been there for me and my sisters. He’s a wonderful man. And just because he’s changing shoes now, so to speak, doesn’t make him less wonderful. I will always love my dad, whether he’s a man or a woman.

According to Us Weekly's retraction on Thursday, "the interview was allegedly conducted by an independent freelance journalist," and after learning that Kendall denied that she ever spoke to Us, the publication reached out to the journalist. Us explained,

He stood by the interview, and continues to maintain that the quotes are accurate. However, after attempting to reconfirm his account, editors of Us have concerns about the veracity of this interview and the circumstances under which it was obtained. We would like to retract the story entirely and have removed it from our website. We sincerely apologize to Ms. Jenner and her family.

Like Us stated, the interview has been removed from the website, and it sounds like it's the right thing to do. The Kardashian and Jenner families have been in the spotlight ever since transgender rumors started circulating about Bruce. His family members have remained silent about the rumors, except for Kim Kardashian who said Bruce's story is his to tell.

To craft a story about a daughter and her parent who might be going through a sensitive time is overall wrong, so if the publication had doubts about the story, deciding to pull it and apologize to Kendall and her family was the best decision.

Editors Note: Until/unless Jenner has personally confirmed the transgender rumors and the intention to begin presenting as a woman, Bustle will continue to refer to the track star as a man and father, using male pronouns. Jenner deserves the courtesy of being able to “tell his story his way” when ready, as step-daughter Kim said, and Bustle will only make those changes if/when Jenner confirms.
