When Will Zayn Return To 1D?

by Jaclyn Anglis

One Direction fans in the Phillipines were probably sad to hear the news that Zayn Malik would not be joining the band for scheduled performances in the country this weekend for their On The Road Again tour. Malik is taking a break due to "stress," as was reported by Simon Jones of Hackford Jones PR, who represents the band. Though many fans showed support for Malik through positive tweets and "get well soon" messages, they are likely wondering when they will get the chance to see him again. It is hard to say exactly how much time he will need, but there is a chance Zayn Malik will be back with One Direction for later tour dates.

According to The Mirror, Malik will definitely be out of the tour for the next three concert dates. But there is some good news — he reportedly hopes to rejoin his band mates by March 28, for a scheduled performance in South Africa. Hopefully Malik find a good way to manage his stress by then. But of course, there is also a possibility that it could take longer for him to recuperate.

As we all know, he certainly has good reasons to be stressed out. After all, he was accused of cheating on his fiancé Perrie Edwards while in Thailand and he was also hit with a "weed bond" to pay up before the scheduled concert in the Philippines due to a viral video from last year that supposedly showed him smoking pot. And on top of that, an insider has said to E! that Malik has a "problem with the fame" and has not been handling the attention very well. So, in short, we don't have a confirmed day for when he will be back on the road.

But we do know that E!'s source said that contrary to other reports, Malik's (temporary!) leave has nothing to do with his fellow band mates. Instead, the source said,

Fame is kind of catching up with all of them. It's been a grueling and intense few years and it's having a snowball effect now. Zayn would be happy with a low-key life. He has a problem with the fame — he doesn't handle the attention very well, and every so often he has a little wobble.

If what the source said is true, then perhaps it is best that he take as much time as he needs to recuperate, even if it means taking off more tour dates. After all, he likely would not want to give his fans any less than his best work.

But also, for what it's worth, Malik's mother doesn't think fans should worry too much about his well-being. She told The Mirror, "I have spoken to him and he's fine. We have been in contact. I can't say where he is going to go."

Well, if his own mom does not know when he will be back, it is safe to say we will have to wait for Malik or his rep to give a definite answer. In the meantime, let's hope that he gets the chance to lay low and that others respect that!
