Jaime Chose Taylor As Godmother For Good Reason

Remember when it was revealed that actress Jaime King chose Taylor Swift as godmother to her second child? Well, now we're getting all of the details about that special moment from the Hart of Dixie actress herself. In an interview with Elle magazine, Jaime King spilled the beans about Taylor Swift and why she's the perfect fit for a godmother. Basically, Swift = King's fairy godmother.

It's like right out of Cinderella, isn't it? Well, save for the fact that I'm pretty sure Swift won't turn a pumpkin into a carriage and send King's baby off to a ball to meet his/her one true love. Then again, Swift is pretty magical and seems like she can do pretty much anything. Moving on...

First, when King asked Swift to be godmother, the singer reacted just like we'd all imagine. King revealed,

We were hanging out on the couch and I was like, "Hey, would ever want to be a godmother?" And she was like, "Uh, yes!" And she cried and, you know, all the fun things that best friends do.

Did you expect anything less? King also explained why Swift makes sense as the godmother of her second child. She said,

There was no thought behind it at all other than that I always knew she was going to be the godmother if I had another baby. It's because she's incredibly thoughtful. Choosing a godmother is a very sacred and important thing in our family. They're going to be guiding your child, and they're responsible for them if something was to ever happen. We try and choose people who we know would raise our child the way that we would raise our child and her thoughtfulness, her kindness, her authenticity — the way that she's generous with her family, with her friends, with her fans — is so powerful to me.

King continued,

She's so uninhibited in her giving — the presents she gives to her fans, she wraps every single one, she paints the stuff. It's all her. It's just beyond. She's so clear with what it is that she wants to do yet at the same time she leaves herself so vulnerable. It is really powerful to me. That's why I feel like she's going to be the perfect godmother.

And as the "perfect godmother" that means Swift will totally sing to her godchild, right? And that we'll get a song from Swift about her godmother experience? Seeing as T. Swift likes to write about her life and personal experiences, I'm waiting for a fairy godmother song, or, better yet, a lullaby. Now that'd be a smash hit and open her up to a new fan base.
