New 'Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' Book Title Is...

by Caitlin White

Just two months after learning that a new The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo book was coming, we now have an official title and cover image. The fourth book of Stieg Larsson's Millenium series will be called The Girl in the Spider’s Web. You can start jumping up and down now because this means it's real, and it's hitting all of our shelves this September 1.

After Larsson's tragic death by a heart attack in 2004, publisher Alfred A. Knopf announced, with input from the Larsson estate, that fellow Swedish author David Lagercrantz would take the helm of Larsson's wildly popular series and continue the story of our favorite kick-butt heroine Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. The Girl in the Spider's Web will follow the first three novels, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, 2009's The Girl Who Played with Fire, and 2010's The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.

Lagercrantz discussed Larsson's influence on his work on the book in a statement to Knopf.

Stieg Larsson was a master at creating complex narratives, narratives made all the more forceful because of the journalistic authority with which they were originally written. That was something that informed my approach to book four, and I’m confident Millennium readers will identify with the storylines in Spider’s Web.

Lagercrantz also said that there would be "some surprises in store for readers as well, including the introduction of Silicon Valley as a locale and a character from the National Security Agency in a central role. There are even symbols and code ... This is some of the hardest and most rewarding work I’ve done as a writer."

Without further ado, let's get to the book cover:
