Russell Crowe Is Positive That MJ Prank Called Him

by Arielle Dachille

According to Russell Crowe, Michael Jackson was once the Bart Simpson to his Moe Szyslak. Russell Crowe believes that Michael Jackson used to prank call him. That's a sincere belief of his. I love the idea of this scenario just as much as the next person, but let's be real. It probably wasn't Michael Jackson.

Despite never having met the dearly departed King of Pop, the Gladiator actor recently told The Guardian that he was receiving crank calls from him for two or three years. How did Jackson supposedly start doing this? Crowe has given the matter plenty of thought. "He found out the name I stayed in hotels under, so it didn’t matter where I was," said Crowe. "He’d ring up do this kind of thing, like you did when you were 10, you know." Jackson then proceeded to wreak havoc on Crowe's phone line with exceedingly corny jokes. Crowe remembers one in particular:

"Is Mr. Wall there? Is Mrs. Wall there? Are there any Walls there? Then what’s holding the roof up? Ha ha." You’re supposed to grow out of doing that, right?

I'm sure that Crowe's response was to swear revenge into the receiver, like, "I know it's you, Michael! You can't fool me!! I'll get you one of these days!!" Meanwhile, on the other end of the line, a 12-year old boy who was definitely not Michael Jackson stifled his giggling.

'Cause let's be real here, guys. Odds are that a large percentage of teenagers who have dabbled in crank calling have pretended to be Jackson. I know I certainly have. After all, a good Michael Jackson impression is a tool in any seasoned prank caller's toolbox. It's hilarious that this hasn't occurred to Crowe. In other news, if you told him that "gullible" was written on the ceiling, he's probably look up.
