When Will The Birthday Cake Frappuccino Return?

by Alanna Greco

It’s never fun coming down from a sugar high — so instead of accepting the disappearance of our new favorite drink, Bustle went right to the source in order to get the answer to our most burning of questions: When will the Starbucks Birthday Cake Frappuccino come back?

As we anxiously awaited the coffee behemoth’s response, we thought of a few ideal answers:

  1. The Birthday Cake Frappuccino is back by popular demand, and it will remain on our menu forever.
  2. The Birthday Cake Frappuccino isn’t coming back, but you are clearly dedicated to this cause, so here is a special VIP card that will allow you to get the drink whenever you want.
  3. The Birthday Cake Frappuccino is gone, but can we send you all of the leftover ingredients and supplies that we never got around to using? We have no room for them in our offices and they’re still good!

Alas, though, none of these theories became reality. It is with a heavy heart that I report the following: According to a Starbucks spokesperson, “The Birthday Cake Frappuccino was a limited-time offering, available only from March 26 – 30 at Starbucks stores in the U.S. and Canada. However, customers can order a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino with hazelnut syrup; unfortunately, the raspberry infused whip cream is no longer available."

However, while the delicious frozen treat won’t be back anytime soon, you can still try to make your own version. As the Starbucks representative and the site Starbucks Secret Menu tell us, adding hazelnut syrup to a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino will get you, at the very least, the base of the drink. Starbucks Secret Menu also suggests asking a barista to blend a Birthday Cake Pop into the Frappuccino to add texture and even more of a celebratory feeling. As for the raspberry whipped cream? You can always make your own! Just whip up a batch of this DIY raspberry whipped cream, and voilà! You have revived your favorite frappe.
