'Anchorman 2' Trailer Is Stupid (Good)

by Kate Ward

Based on the new trailer for Anchorman: The Legend Continues, the sequel looks so stupid. Like, insanely stupid. But that's the highest compliment I can give the film, which revives Will Ferrell's brilliantly inane newsman Ron Burgundy. Because the first movie, 2004's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, was so beloved and so funny because of its stupidity. Mentions of Scotchy Scotch Scotch, loving lamp, and whale vagina were most definitely lowbrow and immature, but they were also hysterically funny. (What millennial doesn't still quote Anchorman ad nauseam?) And I have little doubt that anyone going to see Anchorman: The Legend Continues in theaters Dec. 20 (just in time for Christmas!) will leave with the gift of being able to quote a whole new set of lines involving vampires, cruise control, and every single thing that comes out of Steve Carell's mouth.

Don't believe me? Watch the most recent trailer, embedded below, and try not to giggle at any one of the many lowbrow jokes included. And then try not to tell me that Anchorman: The Legend Continues looks stupid good. On Dec. 20, come for the stupidity, stay for this shot of Brick in a cone collar of shame. (One step beyond a glass case of emotion, of course.)

And this is just everything.

An Anchorman sequel, unlike milk, was such a good choice, Universal.
