Rose Byrne: "Men Never Grow Up" — VIDEO

by Anna Klassen

Thanks to movies like Bridesmaids and Neighbors , the world finally knows an important truth: Rose Byrne is funny. Like, really, really funny. The actress — known for her dramatic roles in films such as Troy, Wicker Park, X-Men: First Class, and The Place Beyond the Pines — stars opposite Nick Kroll and Bobby Cannavale in Adult Beginners . The film centers around Jake (Kroll), who's a young, narcissistic entrepreneur that crashes on the eve of his company's big launch. With no money in his pocket, he moves from his Manhattan bachelor pad into his estranged pregnant sister and brother-in-law's suburb home. With their three-year-old son in need of watching, Jake becomes the family's unlikely nanny. Chaos — and plenty of laughs — ensue.

Nick Kroll said farewell to fan favorite character The Douche on Parks and Recreation this year, and just concluded his third season on Comedy Central's The Kroll Show. The Adult Beginners story was crafted of Kroll's own inception, having 12 nieces and nephews of his own, and feeling completely inept at the possibility of raising his own family. Bobby Cannavale plays the husband of Rose Byrne's character (the pair are dating in real life), and is appearing in the upcoming Ant-Man opposite Paul Rudd.

But these three leading actors are only part of the equation. Nabbing incredible cameos like Joel McHale, The Good Wife's Josh Charles, 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski, SNL's Bobby Moynihan, (to name a few), the film is never lacking in familiar funny faces.

Adult Beginners deals with topics like aging, maturity, and the idea that having children or a great job doesn't necessarily equate to adulthood. Speaking with the cast about the film, I asked them: "Do we ever feel like grownups?" The always amazing Rose Byrne had the perfect response.
