Let's Cast The Live-Action 'Pinocchio' Movie

by Caitlyn Callegari

Comic book lovers had their day (or decade) with all of the super hero movies we've had to endure. But, musically inclined, Disney loving kids, now is finally our time to shine — we're finally going to see a live-action Pinocchio. Or really, Pinocchio as an actual, real life boy. Who would've thought the day would come?! Fellow kids at heart, let that sink in.

From Deadline:

Yet another live-action version of a tried-and-true Disney fairy tale is wending its way to the big screen. Peter Hedges is penning a feature loosely based on the original Pinocchio story about a marionette carved from wood who dreams of becoming a real boy.

It'd probably be prudent to get out the pom poms and cheer Hedges on for making this happen. Without a doubt, a live-action Pinocchio is going to be just a wee bit more difficult to exact than the live-action versions of Beauty and the Beast or Mulan (which have both been confirmed), considering the fact that many — OK, basically all — of the characters aren't actually human. But, thanks to those magicians who keep on making CGI seem more and more realistic (in addition to the wizards also known as make up artists who transform actors into various creatures with a mere brush and some paint) I'm confident that they'll be able to do it.

But here's the real question... who is going to be cast as these beloved characters? Well, I've got a few ideas — here are the actors who would make the Pinocchio characters really come to life:

Daniel Huttlestone As Pinocchio

Daniel Huttlestone already tackled Les Miserables and Into the Woods. He's got this in the bag.

Hugh Jackman As Geppetto

Hugh Jackman brings a certain undeniable vulnerability to his roles that would no doubt endear us to Geppetto.

Jonathan Groff As Jiminy Cricket

Forget his amazing vocals. I mean, have you ever heard him speak? His voice is like velvet and whoever plays Jiminy is going to have to get people to listen.

Uzo Aduba As The Blue Fairy

I bow before Uzo Aduba and her neverending talent. She kills it in both acting and singing and I'd love to see her get the chance at a big movie role like this.

Neil Patrick Harris As Lampwick

Neil Patrick Harris plays slimy really well (remember Gone Girl?!), and this character calls for it. You know, despite how much we all love his real life charm.

Zach Galifianakis As Stromboli

Zach Galifinakis. I'll just leave this clip as proof of this perfect match:

James Corden As The Coachman

James Corden can do just about anything — see The Late Late Show — so why not this?

Damon Wayans Jr. As Honest John

Damon Wayans Jr.'s comedy background would help to bring a bit of necessary humor to outweigh the malice of "Honest John."
