You know what we've all been robbed of? All the minutes spent wondering how to deal with annoying neighbors that we will never get back. Once you've lived in enough apartments, it starts to feel like being really loud and eccentric (and inconsiderate and totally lacking in self-awareness) is a prerequisite to owning an upstairs apartment. Basically, the top level of any apartment building is usually occupied by a bunch of big jerks great views, and nothing sums up that struggle better than this Above Average video the shows what everyone's upstairs neighbor is really doing when they make noise. Hint: It's a hell of a lot more intentional than you think!
The video shows an interview with an "upstairs neighbor" couple, and how they delight in finding creative, innovative new ways to torture their downstairs neighbor. They bask in the brilliance of their own art form, which they are slaves to maintaining on a 24/7 basis. By the end of the video, you almost sympathize with their cause. In fact, I would like to take the time to personally thank Jeff, my old upstairs neighbor whose name I only knew because a girl would scream it out around two in the morning on weeknights. Your dedication to annoying me was superb, Jeff. You deserve a gold star.
Regardless of whatever awards Jeff has earned, though, none of it is nearly as impressive as the lengths this particular couple went to. I mean, just look at how they express themselves through noise making art. Just look at all they have gone through together:
