Blake Lively Isn't Afraid To Age

by Stephanie Chon

Whether or not you're a fan of Blake Lively's, you probably heard that she and hubby Ryan Reynolds recently welcomed their beautiful daughter James. Still, Lively somehow managed to keep her pregnancy relatively hush-hush while it was going on, because according to Vogue, Lively said that she’s no Beyonce when it comes to announcements. It’s OK, Blake— Queen Bey is on her own level. In case you don't know what she's talking about, Lively was referring to the VMAs from 2011 when Beyoncé was performing on stage, threw her microphone down, ripped open her jacket, and showed Blue Ivy Carter to the world for the first time.

In blatant contrast, Lively first told the world about James by posting a simple picture on her website Preserve. The reason Lively and Reynolds didn’t want to pull a "Yoncé" was because, as Lively told Vogue, “It’s her life. She should have her privacy until she chooses not to have her privacy, just as I got to choose and my husband got to choose.”

Although Lively and Beyoncé are friends, Lively told Vogue very lightheartedly, “That was my way of owning that moment. I can’t be someone like Beyoncé." You do you, girl!

Not only is Lively killing it in the motherhood realm, it also looks really good on her, too (but is that really a surprise?). Still, she isn't afraid for that post-pregnancy glow to go away. According to Who What Wear, Lively said she isn’t afraid to age. “People are obsessed with beauty and youth and with looking and feeling young forever, but look at a woman who is granted that: She’s trapped, because it’s tragic to be young forever… And also, having a child makes you realize that we pass on for a reason. You think, I have to go, because it makes room for [them].”
