Is The Dennis Quaid Video A Jimmy Kimmel Prank?

by Kadeen Griffiths

I know I can't be the only person whose childhood was utterly ruined on Monday when the viral video of Dennis Quaid's freak out on a movie set made its round on the Internet. Quaid — known best to many of us '90s babies as the father from The Parent Trap — was taped on a smartphone screaming obscenities at a cast and crew before marching off. Considering the origin of the video was Reddit, naturally one of the commenters claimed to be from Jimmy Kimmel Live! and also claimed that the video was one of their elaborate viral video pranks. However, Kimmel addressed the Dennis Quaid video himself on the show Tuesday night, denying any involvement with the tape and giving us a hilarious theory about the cause of the outburst.

"I watched it a bunch of times last night and, when I woke up this morning, I was being blamed for it. There are two dozen articles, and thousands of comments online, suggesting that this is a prank — and I am responsible for it," Kimmel said earnestly. "And I have to say, that’s disappointing. You play like 50 pranks, and all of a sudden people don’t trust you anymore."

Of course, considering Kimmel took the opportunity to make joke after joke about the video — including "Dopey the D***" being his new favorite insult and his desire to put the phrase on t-shirts — I wouldn't blame anyone from remaining suspicious that he had something to do with all this. He did, however, go on to theorize the real reason for Quaid's outburst, which... well, no, it doesn't make the outburst that much better, but it certainly does make it ten times funnier. Then again, it could just be the huge Looney Tunes fan in me talking.

Check out the video below and decide for yourself if Kimmel is telling the truth or not. Either way, you're guaranteed to laugh.
