Jon Cryer Does Duckie's 'Pretty In Pink' Dance

by Alyse Whitney

Long before Lip Sync Battle won our hearts, Duckie's lip sync in Pretty in Pink was everything we needed. Even though we can't go back in time to the glorious era of '80s Brat Pack movies, star Jon Cryer recreating Duckie's record store dance with James Corden on the Late Late Show made us feel transported. On Tuesday night, Cryer joined Corden for a lip sync duet instead of a battle of Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness," packing in all of the wall dancing, hip thrusting, and foot tapping of the original scene. Unfortunately Duckie wasn't joined by Andie (Molly Ringwald) and Iona (Annie Potts) in Corden's version of the shop, but the audience was more than happy to react to their shenanigans in a similar excited, giggly way that the girls did in the movie.

When you put Cryer's performances together side by side, they're nearly identical. Even though he's not singing to anyone in particular — like when he got up close and personal with Andie and Iona — he's still having the time of his life using the store as his stage with hair flipping, floor stomping, and fist pumping. It was glorious, and you can check out both the original 1986 performance and the re-creation from 2015 below. And if that isn't enough to satisfy you, I also have three ideas for scenes they should recreate next, because why stop at just one bit of Brat Pack nostalgia?

When Duckie Fights Steff

Can you imagine Cryer just going crazy on James Spader? Please make this happen.

"I Hope They Shrivel & Fall Off"

A line that will stand the test of time as one of the best insults ever uttered by Jena to Benny.

The End Scene, Duh

No matter who you were rooting for, it is a romantic moment...
