'Cake' Starring Jennifer Aniston Exclusive Clip

by Anna Klassen

In a transformative performance, Jennifer Aniston tackled a character that is flawed, compelling, and most importantly, human. 2014's Cake follows the dark and humorous world of Claire Bennett (Aniston), a woman who begins a relationship with a widower (Sam Worthington) and confronts hallicinations of his dead wife (played by Pitch Perfect's Anna Kendrick). Like all of us, Claire yearns for human connection and self-forgiveness. With the help of her housekeeper/caretaker Silvana, Bennett tackles her inner demons and personal tragedy with humor and friendship. Directed by Daniel Barnz, Aniston's raw performance earned her Best Actress nominations at the 2014 Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

An actress known for her beauty, Jennifer Aniston didn't wear any makeup in the film. "The only time I had to sit in the makeup chair was just for scars," she said. She called the experience of going makeup-free, "so fabulous, and so dreamy and empowering and liberating."

With the DVD/Blu-Ray release of Cake around the corner, Bustle got a hold of an exclusive clip from behind the scenes of the film, available on April 21. Watch the clip, featuring director Daniel Barnz, below:
