These Stars Need To Return To HBO Too

As previously reported (with great, great excitement), Sarah Jessica Parker will officially be returning to HBO in a new series called Divorce. No, that wasn't a typo that was somehow supposed to say Sex and the City — and while I'm as disappointed as you are that we won't be getting another round of Carrie Bradshaw and her fabulousness, I have to say, Divorce actually sounds pretty great too. It's a comedy that the formerly former HBO star Parker will both executive produce and star in as Frances, a middle-aged woman going through a... you guessed it! Divorce! At first she thinks it will be a fresh new start in her life, but as the process goes on, she comes to terms with the fact that it's way more likely to be a big ol' nightmare.

It sounds like a strong comedic premise, and one I'm excited to see Parker tackle. But mostly I'm just thrilled to have her back. It's been a long time since we've seen her round these HBO parts — as these outdated quotes from the series can attest — so hopefully within a few episodes, it'll be like she never left. But getting the chance to reunite with one former HBO star is just a teasing reminder of all the other alumni out there whom I'm still missing. If someone could get in touch with these 9 actors from no-longer airing HBO shows and tell them to run along home too, I'd be much obliged.

Idris Elba

I'm sorry, if you're really asking me to defend why I want more of the luscious, unbelievably attractive man who played Stringer Bell on The Wire, then you can go ahead and get right out.

Laura Dern

Enlightened ended way before its time, and only whet my appetite for that sweet sweet Dern magic. I'll probably never stop wondering what happened with Amy Jellicoe.

Jemaine Clement

Truly don't understand why this man isn't more famous than he is, considering the way he's destroyed (in a good way) every project he's touched since playing a heightened version of himself on Flight of the Conchords.

Lisa Kudrow

I'm fully aware that we just got a rebooted season of The Comeback in 2014, but Kudrow is one of the best television actors we have at our disposal right now, and any moment she isn't dominating HBO as Valerie Cherish — or really anyone — is a moment wasted. For real.

Ricky Gervais

Gervais is one of those love-him-or-hate-him guys, and I won't deny he can be abrasive, but I just loved him as Andy Millman on Extras, and I want more of the brain that came up with that.

Edie Falco

I'm sure she's great on Nurse Jackie, but it's high time for HBO to snag Falco back from Showtime and return her to her Carmela Soprano glory.

Ron Livingston

Not sure how many of you remember the series Band of Brothers, but it had A TON of famous people in it, including Livingston. In my ideal world, we'd get a reboot of the whole project, starring the same actors, but I'd really settle for anything that brought me a step closer to Livingston at this point, because this talent-crush I have on him just isn't going away.

John Gallagher, Jr.

Again, you don't need to remind me that I just said goodbye to Gallagher's character Jim Harper at the end of last year, but I already miss that floppy-haired dummy. Please find a way to bring him back to HBO/my heart very soon.

Cynthia Nixon

I know this whole post started out with me talking about how excited I was to have a different SATC girl back, but I don't care. I'd trade it all in for one more season with Miranda Hobbes, and I don't care who knows it.
