Victoria's Secret Wants To Be More Like Zara

by Lauren Turner

There are certain brands that have totally established themselves as being really good at one thing, and I can only imagine how hard it would be to change that reputation. When it was reported that Victoria's Secret wanted to be more like Zara, I immediately wondered how easy that was going to be for the primarily lingerie-stocked company. But even they are looking towards emulating the fast fashion ways of the uber successful Zara.

In case you missed it, here's what fast fashion is. In the simplest way possible, it's basically just being able to have a quick turnover of products, in store and online. As of now, Zara is the leader in this industry. And Victoria's Secret CEO Sharen Turney recognizes how smart this method is because they're already implementing some of those techniques in their business now. "Basically almost all of our panties today are on some kind of speed program," Turney said, "and those speed programs allows us to read the business on Monday and be back in stock in the stores within 15-25 days."

Understanding this has really cleared up a lot of things for me, because I was interested VS's next move when they stopped selling makeup, a few months back. And now it all makes sense. Ditching the makeup to focus on the turnover of the product that they sell so well. This is all good news to me, because the worst thing is finding the bra you must have, and them not having it in your size, so I can't wait.
