Man's Obit Says Don't Vote For Hillary

by Melissah Yang

You've never seen an obituary quite like this. In honor of a North Carolina man's passing, his family wrapped up his life with one final request in his obituary: Don't vote for Hillary Clinton. The man, Larry Darrell Upright, passed away April 13 at the age of 81.

Also, the family respectfully asks that you do not vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016. R.I.P. Grandaddy.

The obituary was written by Upright's family, who wanted to honor his passion for politics, daughter Jill McLain told WSOC. That passion, she said, likely passed on to the rest of his family and what prompted the unusual parting line. The obituary has generated a wide range of responses. Most people have offered their condolences. Some have promised to honor the Upright family's request.

My entire family had no intention of voting for Hillary, but now we will happily think, "This is for you, Larry!!!
I am a stranger and I do not know you or your departed. However, I saw the obit and wanted to express my condolences and to let you know that your sense of humor is wonderful. Please know that we will not be voting for Hillary. Blessings to you and your family.

But of course, any kind of political call will rally both sides of the Hillary debate. Others, while expressing sympathies, stood strong next to the Democratic presidential candidate.

My condolences on your loss. And thank you for helping me make up my mind so early in the Presidential race. I know you support the electoral process and the right of every American to vote for the candidate of their choosing. Assuming Ms. Clinton gets her party's nomination, she gets my vote. Blessings to all.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose a loved one. My own mother-in-law will soon be joining the afterlife and we will miss her as much as you miss your loved one. So, in both their honors, I will vote for Hillary to protect our basic rights as humans.

And a few criticized the family for using a man's obituary to send a political message.

In Sympathy in your time of loss... It is a pity the family has chosen to use politicize this event and utilize it as a device to attempt to further divide the citizens of this wonderful country.
