The "Epic Proposal" Bar Was Raised Today

When you talk about a relationship "going the distance" it usually doesn't mean running 26 miles on foot with your S.O. For Dan Koh, it did, however, so the chief-of-staff to Boston mayor Marty Walsh proposed at the Boston Marathon finish line today to his longtime girlfriend Amy Sennett. Koh and Sennett met and became running buddies at Harvard in 2009, and the two started dating shortly thereafter. Since then, they've racked up an impressive number of marathons over the years together, include two previous Boston Marathon runs.

2015's race was a little different. Starting at mile 24.8, Koh had friends hold up signs with lines from a love poem he wrote about highlights of their relationship, from their time in Philadelphia and D.C. to their cramped apartment in New York City. For a couple who pretty much fell in love on the streets in their sneakers, there couldn't be a more perfect place to pop the question.

Although there are no shortage of clever proposals out there — from the hand made flip book to the Starbucks proposal to that ridiculously time-consuming 365 day proposal video — there's got to be a huge adrenaline rush that comes from accomplishing such a physical feat and being rewarded with a lifelong commitment to your partner. Today's runner's high was probably a little bit higher than usual — most likely after Sennett said "yes."
